Lately those tiny, annoying little things called ants have invaded our home. We've had to be extra careful not to leave any crumbs, or other remnants of food out otherwise the ants come marching over for feeding time.
The one thing that was harder to control was leaving food in our kitchen trash can. It just wasn't realistic to take the trash out more than once a day, but if we didn't do it, the ants were continuously making their way to the trash.
I knew I could just go to the grocery store and pick up some chemical product to try and get rid of the ants, but I wanted something more natural.
I was flipping through this really great book that I purchased a while ago, by Reader's Digest called,"More Extraordinary Uses for Ordinary Things."
This book is filled with over 1,000 tips for different ways to use common household items, and I love it!
|Did I mention I love this book??|
In reference to my ant problem, a tip I found in the book was to use cayenne pepper or cinnamon to repel them. Luckily I had a bottle of cinnamon in the kitchen and I immediately sprinkled some around the trash can and by an area near our windows where they seemed to be coming in.
It's been a few days now and I'm happy to report that this natural method of repelling ants seems to be doing the job. I haven't seen any ants in the kitchen and the cinnamon smells good too!
