Use and Reuse It: Plastic Takeout Containers

May 28, 2013
Organizing does't have to be expensive. There are so many different ways to use and reuse things and they can make great tools for organization. Knowing this, I've started keeping certain items that I feel may have an alternate use.

For example, when my husband and I get takeout, the food often comes in these plastic containers:

Instead of throwing them away, we washed them thoroughly and stored them.

Once we accumulated enough, I used the containers to re-organize the insides of the Ikea Helmer drawers that we have in our home office.

Four fit really nicely in each drawer and now I love that I can easily find what I'm looking for.

I can definitely see myself using these plastic takeout containers elsewhere around our house!

  1. Ok, so I am wondering where these specific containers are obtained? Can you share that? Cause I have not seen these....and I would like to repurpose them if they are in my area. :-)

    1. Hi Jayne! I'm in Manila (Southeast Asia)..kinda far from you I'm guessing! Come to think if it, when I lived in California, most takeout containers were styrofoam or those boxes. I recall seeing plastic in Delis or coffee ships there....:)

    2. Well, yes a wee bit far. :-) I will however, keep a look out for suitable containers here. Loved this post!

  2. Love this idea! I agree with Jayne - our take-out containers in Ohio are FAR from re-usable (unfortunately).
