I immediately fished the phone out of the water and then proceeded to freak out while I was frantically wiping down and disinfecting my phone.
In my mind I was thinking things like, "Ewwwwwwww!!!!"
and, "I can't afford to replace this phone right now!"
and, "Once you go iPhone you can't go back!"
Let's just say, it was not fun at all. But...I did learn a few things from this experience:
- Use the tips found in this article on 'How to Save a Wet iPhone or iPod Touch.'
- Always keep a soft and hard copy of the contacts from your phone.
- Regularly back up apps that contain important photos, notes, to dos, and passwords. For me, these important apps included Awesome Note and Splash ID. Try to do a back up/sync once a week.
- If you can, keep a cheap cellphone around at home so you can have another phone to use in case your more expensive smartphone stops working.
The bad news is that my iPhone had some issues after it got wet and I couldn't use it for phone calls. The good news is that after two days, (I didn't even have to bring it in for repairs) my phone started working again. I guess the insides just needed to dry up a bit more and this time, I think I'll keep it out of the bathroom!
